Art Reception: March 5, 5-7pm
About the painter: I was born and raised in Walla Walla, moved to California for 30 years, and have now moved back. I think nature more fully supports us in our birthplace. While in California I started painting at age 40, a late bloomer. But once I started painting I knew that I had everything inside that I needed to express myself. Around this time it was my good fortune to meet Benjamin Blake my mentor and close friend. I painted at his Studio 315 for 30 years until he passed away. Creative Process: Clyfford Still said “ if one can talk about it why paint it”.
The creative process has its own language which transcends words. I don’t do much thinking or editing while I am painting, often not even aware of the act of painting itself. Every artist must find their own way, locating that bigger sense of Self. Then using this artistic insight to give expression to the wholeness inside.
